  • Why Organic?

Hemp is known as a ‘bio-accumulator’ –  this means that it draws many substances, including toxins, from the surrounding soil.  If the soil is contaminated with toxins, the toxins can persist in products made from the hemp plant. We eliminate this possibility by never using toxic pesticides and herbicides on our crop.

  • Are there other reasons to grow organic hemp?

Yes! Our farm is located within the watershed of the Chesapeake Bay. By utilizing strict organic practices, we can help preserve and improve the health of this valuable ecosystem.

  • What is River Organics’ commitment to the environment?

Our farm is located in the watershed of the Chesapeake Bay. We help to preserve and improve the health of this valuable ecosystem through our strict organic sustainable framing practices. Furthermore, we have pledged to donate a portion of all sales to environmental non-profits in order to preserve and protect our natural heritage. We invite you to join us in our mission to promote the health of our community and our planet!

  • How does River Organics control the quality of its products?

Our hemp is grown on our farm and is USDA certified organic. We grow the hemp plants from seed, cultivate and harvest each crop by hand, and extract the CBD from the hemp in our own facility using our own equipment. If we use additives in our products, those ingredients are certified organic under the same strict USDA processes that we follow.

Our grower is a master horticulturist with over 30 years of farming experience. He controls the entire growing process in house, from seed to harvest and curing. He walks the fields daily and observes the plants to ensure their needs are monitored constantly. Our hemp is then processed on-site, in a new, state of the art extraction facility, meeting USDA organic extraction requirements.

With constant communication and collaboration between grower and processor, we are able to leverage the benefits provided by this internalized, integrated organization to create locally sourced craft CBD products, which are of an unmatched quality in the industry.  We control the process from seed to bottle to give you the peace of mind that you are using only the finest CBD for you, your family and your pets.

  • What is the process used by River Organics for the extraction of CBD from hemp?

We use food-grade organic ethanol to extract the full spectrum CBD. In a further step, we distill the ethanol out of our extract, leaving no detectable traces. This process assures us that all inputs are organic, and it is a safer process requiring much less energy than CO2 extraction.

  • How does River Organics control the quality of its products?

Our hemp is grown on our farm and is USDA certified organic. Our extraction process is also USDA certified organic. This ensures the purest quality of CBD goes into our products. Through the organic certification process, our operation as well as our farm are continually audited by regulatory agencies to verify integrity.

  • Are River Organics Products third party tested for purity?

Yes, all of our products are rigorously tested by recognized third party laboratories to guarantee their quality, that they are contaminant free, and that the contents in the bottle correspond to what is stated on the label. Without third party testing, other CBD products may contain contaminants, and their potency may significantly differ from what is stated on the label. Our third party test results are made available with labeled QR codes on every product we sell. (LINK TO COA’S:  https://www.riverorganics.com/pages/certificates-of-analysis)

  • Why should I choose certified organic CBD?

Many studies have shown that diets packed with organic foods are healthier. By choosing organic foods, you are minimizing your exposure to environmental toxins and the potential health issues found in non-organic food and produce. Certified organic foods are non-GMO.

The hemp plant is known as a bio-accumulator. This means hemp draws many substances from the soil in which it is grown, including toxins, if these are present. It was used for bio-remediation to clean the irradiated soils in Chernobyl. Because the hemp plant absorbs toxins from the soil, it is essential to buy organic CBD, in order to eliminate the possibility of chemical toxins or pesticide residue in the CBD.

Crops that go into certified organic products cannot be grown using synthetic pesticides, herbicides, sewage sludge, or processed using toxins such as hexane and heptane. The farming activities associated with growing organic certified crops are strictly regulated and inspected to ensure environmental stewardship and best practices. By choosing certified organic CBD, you can have complete confidence in the quality and healthfulness of that product, as well as the sustainability and responsibility of the farming practices.

  • Is there a difference between “Certified Organic” products and products that claim “made with organic”?

When the word organic is used on a label or packaging to describe a product, it should be accompanied by the USDA Organic seal (add photo of seal?). This seal ensures that the product was created in accordance with the USDA’s organic production guidelines and was inspected by a certifying agent. If a product claims to be “made with organic” but does not include the USDA Organic seal, that product’s organic integrity has not been verified.

  • What is CBD?

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is one of 113 natural compounds (also known as cannabinoids) that are produced by the cannabis sativa plant. Cannabis sativa is the scientific name for the hemp plant, a non-psychoactive sibling of marijuana, which is grown under strict testing requirements to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations.  All of River Organics’ products contain USDA Organic Full-Spectrum CBD extracted from industrial hemp.

While the benefits of CBD are still being studied, it is often used as a therapeutic remedy for managing stress and anxiety, insomnia, headaches, inflammation, chronic pain, to promote relaxation and clarity of mind, and to enhance overall wellness.

  • Should I take CBD?

You should consult your physician or health care professional about the potential benefits of CBD or any supplement.  They can best advise you of any potential benefits that may help in improving your personal wellness.  Similarly, if you currently take any medications, have a pre-existing health condition, are pregnant or nursing, or have any medical concerns relating to CBD, you should consult with a physician prior to using CBD.

  • How are CBD and THC different?

CBD (Cannabidiol) and THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) are both natural compounds found in the cannabis plant.  However, the effects of these two compounds are different.  CBD is not psychotropic, so it does not cause any psychoactive effects (will not get you “high”), rather it may play a different role in the plant’s medicinal value, if any. THC is psychotropic and is most known for causing psychoactive effects.

  • Will you still pass a drug test if you use CBD products?

Due to the nature of Full Spectrum CBD, our products may contain trace amounts of THC.  If this is a concern for you, we recommend seeking the advice of a physician or health care professional before taking any of our full spectrum products.

  • What is difference between full spectrum and broad spectrum CBD?

Broad-spectrum CBD sounds like what it is, containing a broad spectrum of plant components.  Broad-spectrum CBD is composed of CBD (cannabidiol) and additional various cannabinoids including cannabichromene, cannabinol, as well as terpenes such as myrcene and limonene. While it does contain a range of cannabinoids, broad-spectrum CBD typically does not contain THC. However, trace amounts of THC may be present in some broad-spectrum CBD products.

Full-spectrum CBD is most often preferred over broad-spectrum CBD, due to its composition.  Like broad-spectrum, full-spectrum CBD contains several types of cannabinoids, including cannabichromene, cannabinol and terpenes such as myrcene and limonene, as well as up to no more than the maximum legal amount of 0.3% THC.  Full-spectrum CBD is usually considered to be more effective when compared to other forms of CBD, due to the presence of this tiny amount of THC, which enhances and creates a greater entourage effect than what is seen with broad-spectrum CBD.

All of our USDA Organic Full-Spectrum CBD products also include strain-specific terpene and flavor profiles that may contribute to this synergistic effect.

  • What are the benefits of CBD?

Throughout history, cannabis has been used for its medicinal properties.  The oldest known record of its use is in China in 2727 BC under Emperor Shen Nung, known as the Father of Chinese medicine.  Ancient Greeks and Romans also used cannabis, and it then spread throughout the Middle East.  Early colonists in America planted hemp for fiber, as required by law by the British Empire.  Today, people introduce CBD into their daily routine for a variety of reasons, which may include the promotion of relaxation and overall health and wellness.

Cannabinoids are an integral part of the human body’s ability to regulate and balance a wide variety of physiological systems. While the benefits of CBD are still being studied, it is often used as a therapeutic remedy for managing stress and anxiety, insomnia, headaches, inflammation, chronic pain, to promote relaxation and clarity of mind, and to enhance overall wellness.

Please consult a doctor or health care professional if you have questions about the effects of CBD on your health.  These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.

  • How should CBD products be stored?

CBD products should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct heat or sunlight. If any of our products need to be refrigerated, it will be stated on the label.

  • What are the differences between using CBD sublingually and topically?

Our full-spectrum CBD tinctures are meant to be taken orally, under the tongue (sublingually).  You may feel the effects more quickly from taking a CBD tincture than by applying oil topically.  We recommend our tinctures be taken by releasing a few drops from the dropper under the tongue, and letting it stay there for a minute before swallowing. This bypasses the digestive system, as the arterial blood supply under your tongue brings the CBD into your bloodstream more efficiently. The mouth’s membranes are more receptive to the CBD, allowing for more effective absorption.

You could also combine the tincture in a drink or food, but it will be absorbed more slowly. This means that it may take longer to feel the effects, and the effects may never reach full potency.

Topical CBD products, applied directly to the skin, may provide a desired effect to a targeted area.  Our USDA Organic Full-Spectrum CBD massage oil is meant to be used topically.  Customers have used it to reduce post-workout soreness and muscle fatigue, decrease pain associated with injury, assist with arthritis pain and joint inflammation, help with sore feet, plantar fasciitis or bunions, decrease discomfort associated with peripheral neuropathy, address skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, acne and mosquito bites, and more.  To use our massage and extra strength pain relief oils, simply rub onto the area where the relief is desired.

Whether taken sublingually or applied topically, we suggest implementing a daily regimen of a consistent dose to determine how best to obtain the desired effects.  Please consult your doctor or health care professional if you have any questions about either sublingual or topical use of our products.

  • Which product should I choose?

The best product for you is dependent upon your intended use.  We offer two primary types of products – tinctures for internal and external use, and massage oil for external, or topical, use.

  • Is there a difference between the smaller and larger size massage oil products?

The only difference in the two massage oil products is size – the larger size will last longer and offers a better price-per-ounce. The 2 oz. and 4 oz. bottles contain the identical product formulation.

The amount of CBD listed on the bottle represents the total amount of USDA Organic Full-Spectrum CBD in the entire bottle, and not per dose.  Thus, the 2 oz. massage oil contains 600 mg full-spectrum CBD per bottle, and the 4 oz. contains 1200 mg full-spectrum CBD per bottle.

  • What is the difference in the tincture products?

We offer our USDA Organic Full-Spectrum CBD Tinctures in four potencies and five flavors.  Our 300 mg, 600 mg and 900 mg tinctures are offered in natural, mint and citrus flavors.  Our 1500 mg tinctures are offered in cinnamon + habanero and ginger + honey flavors.

The one ounce bottle of 600 mg tincture contains twice as much CBD extract as the one ounce bottle of 300 mg tincture, and the one ounce bottle of 900 mg tincture contains three times more CBD extract than the one ounce bottle of 300 mg tincture.  The one ounce bottle of 1500 mg tincture contains five times the amount of USDA Organic Full-Spectrum CBD as the 300 mg tinctures.

  • Which potency should I order?

This depends on your desired dosage. If you desire a lower dose, you may wish to order the CBD tincture in the 300 mg or 600 mg potency. For larger dosages, 900 mg or 1500 mg tincture bottles may be more convenient and may also offer a better price-per milligram to achieve the desired effect.

  • Are CBD products safe for pets?
